Ye often finds himself in headlines for his outspoken views on politics and social issues. However, a growing concern is the way that individuals may be misinterpreting Ye and his messages.
This is not solely due to cognitive limitations, but also to the way that certain news sources and social media platforms selectively highlight or distort information to push their own agendas. In the case of Ye, he has been subject to intentional misinterpretation, with key aspects of his statements often being left out to manipulate public opinion.
Regrettably, a significant portion of the population lacks the mental aptitude to engage in critical thinking, thereby placing greater responsibility on news outlets to report the truth, as readers are often inclined to accept what they read without questioning its validity. The public's response to Ye's recent interview with Alex Jones is a testament to the truth of this assertion.
Ye's recent appearance on The Alex Jones Show where he expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler, the surgeon who performed his mother's fatal surgery, and even Jewish people, has caused a media frenzy. The media's coverage of the interview was predominantly negative, as they intentionally excluded important details and misrepresented many of Ye's statements during the three-hour event.
It's important to note that while the media has a relatively small influence on the American population, it still manages to influence a vocal minority of individuals who tend to be strongly opinionated, lack independent thinking, and are often filled with hate.
According to a study conducted by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, researchers found that most "people will first accept bullshit as true and, depending on downstream cognitive mechanisms such as conflict detection, either retain a default sense of meaningfulness or invoke deliberative reasoning to assess the truth of the proposition."
So, althought people with cognitive limitations may be easily influenced by fake news, these individuals can still find a way to arrive at the truth if prompted to think twice about their beliefs.
In regards to this Ye/Alex Jones story, at the moment, there are hardly any mainstream news outlets reporting the truth about the Ye and Alex Jones interview, or backtracking their false statements about Ye. Many people are relying on the first wave of inaccurate media reports which falsely claim that Ye expressed hatred towards Jewish people. Unfortunately, readers may never be prompted to reevalute their thinking on the matter, since nobody in the mainstream media will admit their wrongdoing. Ye never said that he hated anyone. In fact, he only stated that he loved everyone.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), around 25% of adults in the United States have some form of cognitive limitation. This includes individuals with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and other conditions that affect cognitive functioning.
It's understandable that readers with cognitive limitations may believe the falsehood that Ye hates Jewish people, particularly given that the media had been perpetuating this narrative for an entire week. Anyone with critical thinking skills who watched the Ye and Alex Jones interview would have recognized that West never expressed hate towards any particular group. In fact, he proclaimed his love for all of humanity. Anyone in the media who did proper reserach would also come to this comclusion. It appears that much of the media recognizes the susceptibility of their readers to false claims and deliberately manipulates them to align with their agendas.
Our duty is to illuminate the truth and ensure its visibility, as it can be elusive amidst the current sea of misinformation. Ultimately, we are responsible for bringing the truth to light and making it accessible.
